Pigment Tutorial Part 1

Check this out!

NeverTooMuchGlitter Nail Wonderland

Here it is, finally! The Pigment Tutorial!

For our purposes, pigment is a dry coloring material that can change the color or texture or a nail polish. Some pigment is loose, and some is pressed (think loose eyeshadow vs. the kind in the compact.) Pigment can make a drastic change in the color of a nail polish.

First, some pigments:

TKB Trading Yellow 5, MAC, Fyrinnae. Pigments come in jars, tubes, and plastic bags. I really recommend putting them in screw-top jars or shakers like spices come in. Mineral makeup is not the same as pigment but sometimes produces good results but generally doesn’t pack enough color opacity to be really fantastic. More on that later.

Pressed eyeshadows can also be a good source of pigment. Creams are out- only powder will work, and the drier the texture, the better. They don’t have to be expensive, but do watch out…

Why I adore Kalki Koechlin!

Make sure you watch the second video.

Regular Indian Girl!

Ok before I write about the above, I’d want to spell out why I write under the tag of feminism: That is to find people like me and help others find me because “humanism” is not something people would look for. But to me, feminism is humanism, just a concept that women are people. And people have hearts and dreams and hopes and aspirations and choices.

Now, Kalki. Why I love her? Because she is everything that I can relate to. Because mostly, I have seen her dressed up casually, like normal women do. And because she carries herself like normal people and not like a perfect flawless celebrity. And because sometimes she stutters while answering an interviewers questions. And because she sits cross-legged. And because she is frank is accepting her shortcomings. And because she herself relates to women in general. And oh boy, she writes so fluently and…

Cupcakes with Pink Frosting

So pretty, I can stop looking! I almost did not want to eat it!

I have always looked at the beautiful frosted cupcakes in Pinterest and wondered if I could ever come close to making something like that. Soft pastels in pink, blue, yellow and mint greens.

I am so happy that I managed to make these.  I cheated a bit and got the icing from a local bakery. So next step would be to make my the frosting all by myself.

The recipe I used was this. One small change would be to reduce the sugar content.

I cannot wait to try all the other fillings and toppings ideas with this simple recipe!

Finally got an oven (OTG) and baked my first cake!

It was a simple Butter cake. I wanted to bake something I have tried before just to understand how the oven worked temperature time etc.

This is the recipe and this is how it turned out. The cake needed lot of improvement but it was still tasty.

Did I bake without an oven before? Yes, in a pressure cooker!  See here how it is done.

Also get to be the center of attention for two whole days!!! Did I mention two days?

  • Did anyone tell you how attractive you look today?

lips I have put on some red lipstick and singing, “I got the looks!” to myself in the mirror. That counts right?

A job. I am going to wait for some more time until my daughter starts pre-school then job hunting begins.

  • Is there any bread left in the house?

Yes, I made some sandwich for lunch, want some?

Re-blogged | Hilarious collection of signboard-fails in India

The Passenger

Signboard fails Signboard fails

I do not agree with the title of the post – coz no matter where you are from, you have seen something crazy like this and will be equally amused and disheveled after the scroll down. They have a grand collection of 40 such Indian signboard fails.

I’ve seen many of them on the web and on social media websites.
Infact I had started compiling thse rare-gems in one of my FB albums and even my good friend Uchil hosts a photo album on FB where people even contribute their finds.

But this is probably the funniest collection of some unseen masterpieces.
Be prepared to be surprised – and to laugh like crazy : click here.
